Finally got some of the new 820(CUDA60) units on my XP32 cruncher and they started ok without erroring out :-)

Thanks for sorting out the problem with the app!!!

I'm sickened by the number of "volunteers" who think this project should serve them instead of the other way around. "My RAC is falling, the sky is falling, I broke a nail, it's all your fault, now do the impossible and get me some tasks or I'm a whine like a baby, wah, wah, wah, wah, hurry up you're not doing the impossible fast enough".

I don't think I want to be part of a group that acts that way. I feel like I'm in with a bunch of 15 year old Twitter twits and bubble-gummers. I don't want anything to do with people like that. Thanks for all the advice and jokes but you're not the kind of people I want to be associated with.

Detached.

Wow..... that must be a world record distance for spitting the dummy out!!!

GPUGRID must be one of the most reliable BOINC projects and is a much more worthwhile project than a lot of them. A lot of people have invested a lot of money in expensive GPU cards to run this project and "Credit" and "RAC" is almost addicitive,

Downgrade video driver and you won't get Cuda 6

That is a way around it but surely there must be a bug in the application that is causing the failures in Windows XP machines. Some participants prefer the performance advantage of XP for crunching GPUGRID.

It's my Windows XP machine that seems to be suffering from the CUDA60 failures...

I've also been suffering a lot of failures with app v8.15

Your errors are being caused by your GPU getting too hot, turn the fans up to keep them cooler and you should be OK.

Apart from 1 failure it's not the GPU's getting too hot.... They are in well ventilated cases. The one that came up with high temps was after a reboot when I failed to apply the fan speed after a reboot.

App8.15(CUDA60) units have all been failing on both my systems

Re my plan to use the third of the three WIN 7 licences I bought ages ago, I just noticed it's the "Update" version.

Call off the dogs! Just ordered WIN7 Professional SP1 with COA on eBay UK for £37. Excellent feedback.

Tom

I also recently bought Win7 Pro on ebay, got for £35 with COA. When it was delivered it turned out to be a Dell disc that came with an unused COA. Didn't use the disc but the COA worked, although I did have to use phone activation to verify it.

I often go looking for bargains - earlier this year I acquired 2 Crosshair IV Formula motherboards for less than the price of one more recent Crosshair V.
