We are interested to know...the...working temperature with the 295GTX.

Some experiences: when I started crunching with the stock adjustments the temperatures soon went beyond 80°C, accompanied by computation errors, so I had to stop the test. Unfortunately nvclock won't work yet, so I modified the GPUs BIOS to adjust the fan settings. Now they are configured to run at 100% and the temperature is around 53°C - 55°C with inner case ambient temps of 38°C to 40°C (both measured by the GPUs sensors). I think this should be a healthy temperature for 24/7 use, especially when compared to a 9800 GX2 which showed about 5°C more in the same case.

Again: when using a 8800 GTS 320MB you'll never ever get any work. You'll need another, supported card to be able to download and crunch work for GPUGrid...
The list of supported cards can be found following the link I posted in my first response...

I have just subscribed to this project and can't get any work.
8800 GTS 320MB

Your graphics card isn't supported, quoted from here
"Computing capability 1.0 - it won't run
G80:
* Geforce 8800 GTS - 320/640M - 96 shader units"

It was tried with a GTX 260 Card, maybe some of the 8800 or 9800 Cards it might work for ???

Nope, neither 8800 GTS 512 nor 9800 GX2 did work... :(

I'm sure someone out there has one...

It's on it's way...with a little luck it'll arrive by tomorrow... ;)

The only working possibility I've found yet: modifying the graphics card ROM...
But you will still need windows: the utilities to modify the ROM are not available for LINUX...

Out of interest does XP see all 8 cores? I thought it was only meant to show 4.

If you activate HyperThreading in the BIOS the OS recognizes 8 cores; deactivate it and you have only 4...

Cause I can't find a mainboard with 3 or 4 PCIe-slots each with 16 lanes.

ASUS P6T6 WS Revolution:
* 3x PCI-E 2.0 x16
* 2x PCI-E 2.0 x8
* 1x PCI-E 2.0 x4

Ratm five out of ten GPU-cores are running idle...and the communication delays of 24 hours aren't really helpful to change that either... ;(
