Posted 176 days ago by lohphat Thanks for the background. I would however reconsider the term "well known" -- it's clear that it's not to the casual participant. Has anyone considered or tabulated the wasted power, time, and corresponding CO2 emissions on these broken WUs? Posted 178 days ago by lohphat Yes becasue it's STILL running at 100% over an hour. It was supposed to run 28days then went to 100% in 5 minues and now is still running 1h22m at 100% complete and has not terminated. The task manager is still showing high utilization on the task. |

Posted 178 days ago by lohphat I'm seeing the same problem with ATMbeta. They error out in the first 5 minutes then go to 100% then take a long time to error out. I just upgraded to an RTX 4080 from my GTX 980ti as I was getting a lot of failures from Einstein tasks. That has stopped but the only GPU tasks erroring are from this project. |

Posted 539 days ago by lohphat I process other CUDA WU from other projects without issue and get decent credits. Just wondering if the task software isn't heeding available resources and forging ahead destined to crash. Yes, the plan is to update to a newer GPU but the last few years have made that improbable -- I refuse to be gouged. I also have to make a decision to move away from nVidia or not -- their market behavior isn't my cup of tea. |

Posted 541 days ago by lohphat https://www.gpugrid.net/workunit.php?wuid=27339139 I just had a WU crash the GPU and it took 105 minutes of reboots to get the monitors to not be full green screens and boot to the desktop. I then updated the driver from 522.25 to 526.47 to see if that will be better. However all three hosts trying that WU errored out. Posted 620 days ago by lohphat My recent WUs are using 60-100% CPU on a Ryzen 9 3900X (12 core). Running BOINC 7.20.2 on win11 (64GB DDR4) using 7GB. The GPU (GTX 980Ti) is using 4GB most of its local VRAM (6GB total), but the CPU_0 and Copy graphs are "spikey" running low (20%) then spiking to 80% every 7 seconds. |
