Any idea when we are getting more CPU work?

skgiven, if BOINC has the limitation on GPU's, it must be server side. As he stated above, he can fill the GPU's with Einstein work. Just not GPUGrid. At least that is what I took from our conversation...

Do the admins have any input on this issue? We were wondering if maybe there was some kind of limit server side preventing more than 8 work units in a single machine for GPU's or if running more than 8 at a time was a known issue. It surprises me that nobody has bothered to chime in even to get additional information.

Has there been any updates in this area? I ask because some of my team have switched from FAH and have came here and to a few other projects. A lot of them had server grade equipment with multiple processors that they were used to running MT apps on. Switching to running several single apps is a big change for them. I just wanted to know if this is possibly the next phase to the recent CPU release.

DC-Vault

The Vault Admins have posted a list of projects to be added to, and removed from the Vault. Now is your chance to have your say on what is being proposed. Here are a couple of links to the public discussion about what the Admins have come up with.

One of my team mates has a very impressive rig and is having an issue with getting more than 8 work units at a time on his Teslas. He has 8 dual GPU cards in his rig and the only way he could feed all 16 was to add a second project. Is this a limitation on the server side?

He is running Scientific Linux.

Coming back after a while I'm glad to see that there are WU's for CPU's. I've got one of the hundreds that's still going after 13 hours. Not worried but just asking is that normal. Dave

I have not had any run that long. I don't think that is normal. However, you may want to let them know which work unit you speak of.

I believe there are some on the way right now. Stay tuned!

Thank you. I'm trying to get more of the team to look this way. Some are just sitting idle or are drifting between projects. :)

Is there any way to get more CPU work units? I know there are more and more people liking to support this project and a lot of high end server grade equipment being moved off of FAH right now that would really like a new home to do bio work at. This project seems like a good fit for the type of science they are used to and would like to support. I am aware of other BOINC projects, but suggestions for moving on is not what I'm looking for.

How's this going to work on Apple gear? Will they make users download tasks from iTasks at a cost of $1.50 per task? Will iHeads pay and tout it as another benefit of owning an iPhone that you can't get on any other brand?

Simple...it isn't. No iOS application at this time.
