I see that there is a new version out as of 18 Feb 2018. It runs fine on my Ubuntu machines, but I don't see any changes in time. Does it fix something?

I released a tentative W10 app with the same number, but then deprecated it. No real change for Linux.

OK, I was wondering if there was a connection with the W10 version.

Thanks.

I was wondering why it only uses max 4C per WU... I have 3 WU running on a 12C setup at the moment...

You need to check the box "Run test applications?" on the project preferences page.

But the beta for the W10 Linux is 3.19, while the released version for Linux itself is 3.18. However, I just got a 3.19 for my Ubuntu machine before I unchecked the box, and it ran fine on 4 cores, completing in 37 minutes on my i7-3770. I hope that is clear now.

You mean it won't download the betas? Maybe the BOINC scheduler does not need more work. As for not running them, that is addressed better in another thread for the W10 version.

You don't have a Win10 PC.

I was able to run the 3.18 WU's on a LinuxMint 17.3 setup AFTER I did the
/bin/readlink thing... not sure WHY I had to do that, but it worked with the symlink thing.

However, on LinuxMint 18.1 and 18.3 setups, NOTHING worked. Every WU errors out...

Sigh... guess I have to DG to 17.3 to make it work...

@tex There should be no need or possibility to tweak symlinks.

There is a bug when several QC start at the same time. Try to reset the project and have only one QC WU start (the others can start later).

Well, I started one at a time 30 seconds apart on the 18.3 setup (24C) and had 4 out of a possible 6 WU's running... they all errored out.

Seems it will run ONE WU okay though...

I can't hand manage this thing... this problem has to be corrected...

I'll let these few run one at a time and see how it goes...

Thanks!

Someone looked into it a while ago, and I think you need to start them at least one minute apart, or maybe a little more. That is now my standard, and it works.

Tried running just ONE WU and nothing else and still errors out after about a minute... nothing works.

BUT, on my 17.3 setup, still runs fine...

18.3 setup is dual X5680 with 24G ECC memory server... runs everything else fine...

Sigh... looks like something with GCC or ???? all error the same.

I'm running the Quantum Chem app on my Mint 18.3 system an there are no issues.

I did install build-essential which includes gcc and everything else required to build debian packages.

@Tex1954

I notice this error on one of your failed Work units: https://www.gpugrid.net/result.php?resultid=17152668

platform : linux-64
conda version : 4.3.30
conda is private : False
conda-env version : 4.3.30
conda-build version : not installed
python version : 3.6.3.final.0
requests version : 2.18.4

Mint 18.3 uses a more recent version of python than 17.3. I found this out on the Folding@home project where the python app FAHControl would not run in Mint 18.3. The following commands solved that problem.

wget http://launchpadlibrarian.net/109052632/python-support_1.0.15_all.deb

sudo dpkg -i python-support_1.0.15_all.deb

Tried this and wonder of wonders it worked!

Soooo, why the heck is a Python interpreter not downward compatible? Sheesh...

Anyways, thanks for the help!

Just found this WU: http://www.gpugrid.net/result.php?resultid=17154638 going for 11 hours at only 25%. I doubt this is supposed to happen so I aborted it.
