MSI GTX 980 GAMING 4G
850W power supply.

The max load on the gpu
First GPU reach 65C @ 70% load
Second GPU reach 53C @ 60% load (the FAN basiclly don't spin...)

Around 9 hours for a long task.
Are this normal... ?

I guess you mean your FX6300 powered computer?

What is the CPU/GPU ratio specified in app_config.xml? Per your computer list, you have two high-end GTX980 GPUs served by a relatively weak FX6300. Every GPU runs 2 tasks but how many CPU cores are allocated per task?

Also you may want to review
https://www.gpugrid.net/forum_thread.php?id=4413&nowrap=true#45224

Is the GPU load constantly at low level ... or does it fluctuate?

The cpu load is 16% @3.76ghz and not used for other tasks.
Gpu load are stable and run at boost level.
I have deactivated all power saving option into bios.

Thinking about moving to linux.

Have you tried to set the SWAN_SYNC parameter yet?

On windows 10
GPU at 80% (top pcie express slot)
The other one at 60%

On linux, same board but with FX-8350
GPU at 90% (top pcie express slot)
The other one at 80%

Maybe the motherboard and the FX-6300 CPU are killing performance.
The Second PCIE slot on these board are 2.0 4x.

SWAN_SYNC parameter set to 1, no change.

The WDDM and the PCIe2.0x4 are also to blame for poor performance.

Have you restarted the BOINC manager with stopping the scientific applications?
What is your CPU load now?

Definitely... and the PCIe2x4 in particular. Running a GTX980 on PCIe2x4 is like running a Ferrari on wooden wheels. ;-)

Yes, CPU load is 35% now.
GPU Overall performance seem similar.

I'm curious to try my gtx 750 ti in the fastest PCIE line to see what will happen.

The 750ti is (Ignored by Config) but the GTX 980 passed fron 60% load to 75% load.

Windows seem to manage power very safe for stability?

Get back the gtx 980.... and connected my screen on the slower pcie slot.
GPU load 72% and 68%
Windows... :/

I am not sure if I understand you correctly, where did you put the 750ti and was the 980 put in the second slot that time?

Would you kindly tell me the Mainboard type? The FX-6300 does not feature an integrated PCIe controller, so it depends very much on the mainboard which PCIe Speed is provided. But x4 sounds very slow to me and that surely doesnt get better with another card plugged into the second slot.

Besides, my 1070 and 1080 also suffer from WDDM, but even so they run on 90-80% constant load. The 10% difference are caused by having an old PCIe2x16 capable 1155 Mainboard which slows the 1080 down to the performance level of my 1070 in the other, new 1151 platform PC with PCIe3x16 support. So the number of lanes makes a difference at GPUGRID.

Thank for the help JoergF

M5A97 R 2.0

What happen is if a use the two 980 GPU.
if a connect my screen on the fastest PCIE slot
this GPU load at 80% and the other one at 60%

But if a connect my screen to the slowest PCIE
The connected GPU go from 60% to 70% load.
and the fastest PCIE GPU Drop from 80% to 70% load.

Windows seem to manage power according to the screen connected...
or maybe the motherboard... but look like windows is guilty to me.

'GPU usage' is the overall GPU usage, not GPU usage for a specific application. The OS is probably using that extra 10% of the GPU.

Your motherboards use a 970 chipset, rather than say a 990FX chipset. That in itself can throttle the CPU a bit and in turn the GPUs, but the biggest is PCIe.

PCIe slot 0 is PCIe2-x16, and PCIe slot 1 is PCIe2X4.
For comparison the 990FX chipset can support two GPU's at PCIe2-x16 or 4 GPU's at PCIe2-x8

The competition from the second GPU will to some extent hinder the performance of the first GPU, but with a GTX980 in slot 0 and a GTX750Ti in slot 1 and no CPU crunching you are still going to do more work than with one GPU.

Your W10 system is returning like for like tasks in the same time as your Linux system - so something is wrong there. Were you running CPU tasks on that system or 2 GPU tasks simultaneously?

Connecting to internet with my cellphone (hotspot Wi-Fi), so when i get home my computer reconnect on it.
