It\'s taken me a day or so and even once giving up completely on getting this to run since apparently Sony\'s last update screwed up the easy Pen Drive download\'s ability to run this project. But after doing some reading around here and constant \"itch\" to get this project up and running on my PS3 I continued to tinker. My pen drive drive is a generic \"no name\" but not knowing what a superfloppy was or even FAT32 for that matter I couldn\'t get it to work no matter what I did. I read somewhere around these forums that the HP Format Utility will work on the pen drive so I downloaded the utility from here.

www.hwsetup.it/hwsfiles?action=download&file_id=2138

I formatted my generic Pen Drive to FAT32 as instructed. I then downloaded your install from the main page. KNOWING the \"otheros.bld\" file was not working I downloaded the newer version that appears to be working for the rest of you here.

http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/geoff/cell/CELL-Linux-CL_20071220-ADDON/PS3/otheros/

Once I decompressed the ZIP file, I then deleted the old \"otheros.bld\" fild and replaced it with the new one located at the link above and copied all contents onto my pen drive. Stuck the darn thing into the USB drive on my PS3 and Viola -- I\'ve got BOINC up and running. Seems easy enough, but for someone as PC illiterate as myself it was a task rest assured! LOL

Anyways, I hope to continue crunching with the rest of you for many days to come. Krunchin Keith (Spell?) I recognize you from malariacontrol... just wanted to give you a shout to say hello as your the first person I remember talking with nearly a year ago about the possibility of crunching on the PS3. Thanks for placing that \"bug\" into the back of my head.

Question however. I\'ve noticed no work is available for this project right now. Can I run other Boinc projects on my PS3? Such as Malaria Control without getting invalid results?

Good to see you got everything working! Welcome to PS3GRID!

Yes, it seems the server has some problems to send out new work, and yes there are other projects which support the PS3.

As far as I know Yoyo@home ist the only other project that makes use of the PPE and the SPEs of the Cell Processor.

But you can also crunch for Einstein@home and SIMAP, but these projects only support the PPE of the processor, hence you canĀ“t use the full power of it...

Thanks for the info! I did attempt to attach to those projects & also attempted to get PS3Grid up and running under my id. However the resolution of my screen prohibits me from accessing the window where I need to input my account information. No biggie, I suppose I\'ll just run under it\'s default name for the time being.

Hmm.... Well that didn\'t work either. Thought maybe I\'d do it via BAM, but even then I have no idea what my PS3\'s name is nor can I access the areas needed in my window due to the resolution problem. Ehh, at least it will be crunching soon once it gets some work.

Say, I \"think\" I read somewhere that Sony is working on launching Boinc themselves? I\'ll believe it when I see it!

Scratch what I said in my last post. (No edit button?) My attempts at linking up with BAM were eventually successful. It took a few tries utilizing the tab key blindly but I got it worked out. If there\'s a moderator around, please feel free to close this thread if you would like. As I mentioned all\'s well. :)
