CPU jobs on Linux
(Message 51522)
Posted 1892 days ago by rbpeake Yes, I have two machines set up that I use occasionally, 489909 and 490622. Host O/S is Windows 10 Home, guest O/S is Ubuntu 18.10. Using Ubuntu worked! It did not limit the amount of disk space shown in Boinc when the VM had much more. Thanks! |

CPU jobs on Linux
(Message 51508)
Posted 1894 days ago by rbpeake I am running Linux Mint in an Oracle VirtualBox. I have 108 GB of storage in the VB, but I keep getting the following message in Boinc: Sat Feb 16 20:10:08 2019 | GPUGRID | Message from server: Quantum Chemistry needs 54846.23MB more disk space. You currently have 2374.23 MB available and it needs 57220.46 MB. Is there any way to fix this? Thanks! |

Recent problems for WUs on older GPUs
(Message 10005)
Posted 5453 days ago by rbpeake There is another way ..... Believe me, I am tapping my heels that my card continues to function as well as it has! I just bought it, so it would be a big disappointment if there were issues so soon....but the issue fix would appear to be possible without a card upgrade, hopefully....(although NVIDIA I would guess is tapping its heels that many will upgrade...ouch! ;) |

Recent problems for WUs on older GPUs
(Message 10002)
Posted 5453 days ago by rbpeake Just as a data point of reference, I have had 100% success on all work units using a GTX 260 Core 216 card, running CUDA 2.2 and 185.85 driver, even on work units that have had failures previously. |

O/C Test Results
(Message 9884)
Posted 5457 days ago by rbpeake Thanks for all the information on the EVGA Precision alternative to RivaTuner, and the Furmark program for testing stability! I now feel much better that I can overclock my GTX260 a bit and not produce bad science results! Actually, does anyone know if GPUGrid is sensitive enough to detect too intense overclocking? Thanks. |

BOINC 6.6.28 is out
(Message 9869)
Posted 5457 days ago by rbpeake They had what looked to be a good deal on GTX260 cards so I got a pair of those too ... so, though I am retiring 3 systems and putting one more in mothballs... I will have two more GPUs working for me .... I just purchased a GTX260 216 core, and am glad that I did. Got it for under $200. I have the capability for a 2nd GPU, but had stopped using 2 8800 GPU's because my electricity bill went up noticeably. But perhaps the more efficient GTX260's are not such electric hogs.....guess that will be determined when I get my next electric bill! ;) |

How to Run Only One of Two GPU's?
(Message 6453)
Posted 5557 days ago by rbpeake In Vista, you can try: NOT to extend the desktop to the second gpu, which you can easily do in the Nvidia Control Panel. Thanks, that's a great idea and I imagine that will work! I will give it a try when I get home this evening. :) |

How to Run Only One of Two GPU's?
(Message 6418)
Posted 5558 days ago by rbpeake I have two GPU cards, but want to run only one of them and leave the other one idle. How does one set multi-GPU preferences? Thanks! |
