1) Message boards : News : New Nvidia application 60% faster is now out (Message 15327)
Posted 5179 days ago by Profile Kokomiko
Maybe this application is fast, but not stable. Have stopped now crunching because my GTX295 and also one of my GTX260 are crashing over and over in the last days and I prefer to use my server without have it to reboot often a day. If it was only one card that crashed, I would think, it's the card. But 2 PCs since using the new application looks more like the application is the cause.
2) Message boards : Graphics cards (GPUs) : WUs with double runtime? (Message 12488)

No, no game playing in this time. The next WU (616-GIANNI_BIND001-28-100-RND7903_1) is already running since 22:25 hours and has still to go for 4:24. The card is running under Vista 64 with driver 190.62. The BOINC version was since friday evening 6.10.4. I have just downgraded to 6.10.3.

What is changed, that the WUs now have double runtime for the same credit? On my GTX295 a runtime of 37.000 seconds is normal, but the actual WUs are running 75.000 seconds and gave the same credit. The wall clock time has changed from 9.5 hours to over 20 hours.

Today I lost 2 WUs on my GTX295 after a emergency shutdown. The card runs at 95°C (normal is 68-72°C) and 100% fan speed (normal is 55%). After rebooting the next WU runs fine, like all the other WUs since installing the 190.63.

The error was in line 66 (Mersenne Twister) in this WU

1179359

The other core had a fft_data_swizzle_in error in line 78

1178552

Under this circumstands (card is running hot) it looks difficult to run GPUGrid without babysitting. Such a card is not a cheap card :(

bam related....

It's not BAM related. I've lost again 2 WUs from my GTX295 on a system start. Look's like a bug in the 6.10.0. Sometimes after login and start of BOINC the GPU isn't correct identified and then the BOINC manager makes a disconnect from GPUGrid. All work is in the project folder, but after a reconnect it's lost.

I've now downgraded to 6.6.38. There I never had such problems.

I've changed from the 6.6.38 to the 6.10.0 and some hours later this PC detached from GPUGrid without any reason. After manual call from BOINCStats they PC reconnect to GPUGrid and is now working. Any hint, why the system makes a disconnect?

I just relearnt the oldest lesson in the Windows book "Thou shalt clean out old Graphics drivers before installing new ones" ........

Ack!

Had the same problem while dowgrading from 190.38 to 186.18, but I used the hard way with manually edit of the registry and delete the files from the system. Good to know, that there is a tool ... :)
8) Message boards : Graphics cards (GPUs) : Why my GTX260 in Vista 32 always error? (Message 11944)
Posted 5364 days ago by Profile Kokomiko
Anyone is able to run with some flavour of Windows 64?

gdf

I have 3 GTX260, 2 running under Vista 64, one under Windows 7 64 RC. The GTX260 Extreme+ from Leadtek and GTX260² from ZOTAC are running fine with 186.xx, not with 190.38. Another GTX260² from Galaxytech get only errors, sometime after over 6 hours working. This card I have temporay replaced at the 8.8.09 with a 8800GT.
9) Message boards : Server and website : Server Disk Full (Message 11871)
Posted 5368 days ago by Profile Kokomiko
I can upload new work after complete calculation, but I can't upload the older completed WUs from the time, when the server disk was full. I get this message:

14.08.2009 02:52:00 GPUGRID [error] Error reported by file upload server: can't open file
14.08.2009 02:52:00 GPUGRID Backing off 2 hr 12 min 58 sec on upload of 188-GIANNI_CLOZ-0-50-RND8622_1_4

Unfortunely this count also for new work, so I get not enough work for my GTX295. This WUs in upload blocks the download.

14.08.2009 02:55:45 GPUGRID Message from server: No work sent
14.08.2009 02:55:45 GPUGRID Message from server: (reached limit of 4 GPU tasks)

What shall I do? Abort the upload to get new work or wait for a solution on the server site?

I told him I knew where he lived and would be visiting him if he didn't give me a RMA#, he asked me to provide a copy of the purchase receipt ... :P

Ahh, you have the same problem ... :(. The people from Galaxytech also ask me for a purchase receipt. I have 3 years warranty and the card is less than one year at the market. Why they need now a proof by the purchase receipt?
