Also, GPU usage is below 90% again, while the old Nathans finally got up to 97% on a Fermi (GTX 570).

You guys just don't get enough? WUs running for that long on a Fermi, ever thought how long they would run on a CPU? And finally paying these credits or zero if they fail?

I think one reason why this project has lost any measure in fair credits and useful WU sizes is the lack of a CPU app. Why isn't there any? Because it would demonstrate the monstrous demands you are posing on hardware and crunchers...

I don't understand the logic here. This project never has been paying extensively high credits. Everyone has seen what happened at Primegrid last year, up to the point where folks started selling ATI cards and replaced them by Nvidias.

If you just wanted to have that amount of computing power for science, you'd know what to do... So, why don't you?

Now on the other hand, it looks like you exactly know what to do to get ATIs on board. ;) That's really simple to me. Excuse me for ignoring more subtle arguments here, which certainly are valid. But at the end of the day, I think this is what matters. Ignoring competition on BOINC isn't realistic in my eyes.

My apologizes, they are in the wrong queue. They will be finished in a couple of days or so, so I did not cancel them. See also http://www.gpugrid.net/forum_thread.php?id=2851&nowrap=true#23484

Cheers, Toni. I do understand this is just a coincidence and forgetting about credits always is a bad thing, but probably this is the worst moment ever to forget crediting scientific work correctly.

Nvidia users also need to have some fun at times, ;) so I will move my cards to where the sweet stuff is for a while.

Just finished some runDIG TONI WUs. Despite being tagged as long runs, they just seem to net ~1/3rd of usual long run return.

Finally I found some information - in the GPUGRID cafe! :D

We seriously thought this was a scam/fraud project during first days at the team...finally there seems to have been more information and WHOIS directing to Gianni, so at least to somebody involved linking to GPUGRID. Not really brilliant on information.

But what really bugs me: you DO know how to make high paying projects! Now that ATIs can be used for generating money, they get real credits. What does that tell about the appreciation for the science work done?

Basically I think it's a smart idea, but this is looking dubious in so many ways, I really find that hard to believe, sorry.
6) Message boards : Graphics cards (GPUs) : GTX 295 undervolting? (Message 22120)
Posted 4599 days ago by Profile Mad Matt
Somebody still is running a GTX 295?

Just asking since in the past (pre-acemdlong) I was able to run it undervolted to 1.024 Vcore and OC the shaders to 576/1512/999 MHz. Now it seems I need 1.037 stock Vcore to avoid computing errors using the same clocks.

Is there a possible trade off with RAM settings?
Thanks in advance.

PS, latest check of power draw:
Running 2x GPUGRID ~447W average. 450W peak. ~68% PSU load.

No trashed WU since adjusting fan and RAM. :) Cheers.

I am currently waiting for the Platinum series to start consecutive upgrades of most PSUs, so it should get an X-750W. Last time load measured was when running PG around 75% or so.

It seems fan/RAM settings did the trick. :) For some reason I ignored device 0 sees about 10°C higher temps, most likely because the Gigabyte cooler does exhaust some hot air into the case while this case favours all-exhaust devices. Cooler set manually to 62%, so it keeps the card in a better range now, not sure if memory downclocking still is needed.

If that's running stable, I will try to find some better clocks though. :P Thanks for the tips!

Cheers for the hints, guys. I will try setting fan speed and fiddling with RAM clocks around 1500 MHz first. It's a Silverstone Fortress case, so airflow hopefully should not be the problem.

The PSU might be a bit short, but it does handle more power hungry apps like PG without problems. It is a Seasonic X-650W.

Temps with PG have been 70°-80°C as peak on hottest days, using 900Mhz GPU clocks. So running GPUGRID on stock I did not even bother to check, something below 70°C. Currently running Einstein at 51°-62°C (900Mhz).

I checked one 28x WHQL driver, no improvement with that problem. Intel chipset driver is 9.2.0.1026
