localhost.localdomain
(Message 1174)
Posted 5776 days ago by Jon Boy UK - Wales Further to the above problem... During setup/installation i used the name : PS3A When you open network connections i typed it in everywhere i could. I even altered the: client_state xml file and in between the tags i altered localhost.localdomain to PS3A - save and done a reboot but the changes i made reverted back to what they used to be. This is ridiculous - :) Regards, John |

Computer Name - live

Posted 5782 days ago by Jon Boy UK - Wales Hello, It\'s me again ..... :) Today i hooked up my 2nd PS3 On PS3 Console No1 - USB Live On PS3 Console No2 - USB Live Both are the same versions - When i take a look at my account it\'s only showing that i have just the 1 PS3 & not the 2 that are currently running PS3grid/boinc. I note that the computer name for the 1st PS3 is showing as live - i assume that as the 2nd PS3 is identical to the 1st one. - Then this would also show as live ? - could this be the reason why only the one is listed as the computer names are identical ? -The system can\'t tell them appart ? How do i alter the computer consoles name from the default ( live ) to whatever ? Using a normal PC i know how to do the above but being a linux virgin & PS3 user & crunching neewbie - I\'m stuck.... The last time i even touched a games console or even played a game for that matter was a: DRAGON 32 - The game was Horrace Goes Skiing ! Those were the days - lol :) Kind Regards, John |

Posted 5783 days ago by Jon Boy UK - Wales Hello, I have been using the PS3GRID LIVE usb pen drive for crunching the WU\'s ...Works great ! As you know wifi isnt supported so ethernet is the only option.. Today i installed YDL 5.0 - wifi is not supported. If i download YDL 5.1 - will this support/work with the PS3\'s inbuilt wireless device ? *** Or - Should i *** YDL V6 - I know that this is availiable and is stable and working fine - Shold i just go straight to YDL V6 ? And does this (YDL V6) work with the PS3\'s inbuilt wireless device ? Kind Regards, John |

New To The World Of The PS3
(Message 1146)
Posted 5790 days ago by Jon Boy UK - Wales Hello To All Of You, I\'m new to the world of crunching with a PS3 & i\'m in need of a liitle help.... (1)...I note that PS3PF - Cellbroadband Engine lists has having 2x CPU\'s. But only 1x running Work Unit instance of PS3GRID is running/crunching away. Is this right ? - As with a quad core say for example running another/different project you\'d have 4x running WU\'s / instanses at the same time. - Or does ps3 grid only give 1 work unit per machine at any one time ? If my machine can crunch 1, 2 etc at a time then so much the better - happy days !!! - If so could i say attach simap for example and have 2x WU\'s crunching away ? - Ideally i want to crunch exclusively for PS3 Grid (2)...I\'m using the live version on the usb pendrive Linux 2.6.16 - 1 -ps3f i have installed it as per trhe instruction here on the website. So if i turn the machine off and then back on linux loads and carry\'s on into Boinc and carries on crunching where i left off. How do i get the machine to go back into ps3 game mode rather than linux ? Will boinc still crunch if im playing a game ? About an hour or so into the work unit i remembered to join/attach my team that i\'m a member of and the workunit detached/aborted saying that i had aborted the work unit? Strange......Any input on that one :) Thanks in advance for you help and i do hope that the above makes some sort of sence !!! Kind Regards, John |
