Is there any reason why I would not want to use a dual core processor with a machine housing 3 gt240s?

Planning on using a dual core i3 with 3 gt 240s and 64 bit Linux.
Will I see a major performance hit over using a quad core?

At least on Linux, with the 256.25 version, boinc becomes highly unstable and locks up my system.

Now that I have this driver I've noticed that even when boinc is not running any tasks, I have on thread of my i7 maxed at 100% cpu use and the whole system is slow and unresponsive. Kill boinc, and the issue goes away. And now I can't find a ppa to downgrade to back to 195.36.24, they all seem to have upgraded to this one.

Course, it may just be that Linux WUs have dried up. Cause rolling back the driver I can still not pull a WU. I think that seems more likely.

seems I can no longer pull WUs with this driver.

Is there any news about crunching with Fermi cards and Linux ?

My 470s have been happily crunching beta units for several days now.

My machine has been happily crunching WUs all afternoon, no errors, everything completed and validated.

431secs is the slowest one i've seen. This is almost twice as fast as the few beta units I crunched while booted into win7.

Thank you all for useful informations. I'm going to wait a bit before crunching under Linux, i'm glad to discover new OS via GPUGRID participation.

Again thx guys.

PS: Do you think Open suse 11.2x64 is a good distro to crunch and learn about linux world? This one is the one i prefer after testing Ubuntu and derivated included Mint, Mandriva and Fedora. What is your advice?

SuSE is a great distro, very robust and lots of development. I personally use Ubuntu, mostly because the deb package management system is fantastic.
