has anyone else experience where wu's seem to not run but still log time when playing games with 6.10.14, i know dave and the gang were trying to get it to where it would run while running in the back ground automatically,..

just wondering if anyone else noticed this?

game: sins of a solar empire... maybe it's just me as my 900 planet map eats the memory of the card up.

Yes, seeing this also, even with some less graphic intensice games.

Also, on one of my computers I saw that 9/10 WU's were ending with ERROR WHILE COMPUTING. Using WinXP SP3 (32bit), nvidia 191.07, Boinc 6.10.14, BFGTech GTX285 OCX. I saw this with Boinc 6.10.13 also, although not as often. This also happens when I set my options to not use GPU for crunching while computer is in use. Anyway, I was getting this only on 1 of my computers, so I thought it might not be so much software related. So last night I downclocked my GTX285 OCX to stock (as per nvidia's website). Will see how the WU's turn out now. The other cards I'll leave untouched for now, as they seem to crunch okay even though they have the same OC'd cards installed.

I've had 2 x GTX280's die on me after exactly 6 months of GPUGrid. More than likely manufacturing fault - both were Leadtek, switched to BFGTech since then.

Been an nVidia user ever since I switched to PC's from consoles (Spectrum, Amstrad, Commodeore). All the crashes I've experienced were software (driver) related, so they were easily overcome - reinstall/upgrade/downgrade.

Yeah, 10 yrs is overkill for me. I ususally renew most of the components in my cases in maximum 2 years, and the cases themselves in 5-6 yrs.

Still, seeing that my used components usually end up with my relatives and/or friends, it's good to have a 10 yr. warranty :))

could it be that the manufacturers cards don't pass the 24/7 full throttle test!!!!

Yeah, pretty sure that's actually the issue.

bfg GTX260, still going like the energizer bunny.

Hmmm, probably the reason I bought 3 BFG GTX285's a week ago :)))

I have 2 Leadtek Winfast GTX280's that died on 14 September '09, precisely after 6 months of crunching GPUGrid more or less 24/7 (less because my rigs are gaming rigs, so whenever me and my son were playing we would disable GPUGrid).

Cooling issues are out of the question, as my cases are Tt Xaser VI, with 3x120mm + 3x140mm case fans (soon to be 5x140mm + 1x120mm), plus another 120mm fan on the CPU cooler, and 1x135mm + 1x80mm in PSU (Gallaxy DXX 1000W). Not to mention A/C in every room where I have a PC.

Edit: forgot to mention, no OC. I've never OC'ed, I'm for rock solid stability. I prefer to buy components with high stock (factory) performance instead of low performance components to OC later.

Edit 2: I'm blaming crunching, specifically GPUGrid, because I sleep better knowing I have identified the culprit :))

2 x Leadtek Winfast GTX280 - both died on 14 September '09 - lol I just realized EXACTLY after 6 months of GPUGrid 24/7
1 x Leadtek Winfast PX8800 GT TDH - no complaint whatsoever, managed to do WUs on time most of the time

3 x BFGTech GTX285 - 24/7 for a week now. Bought these babies to replace all of the above (switched to BFG because of lifetime warranty - well actually 10 yrs here in Europe).
