1) Message boards : Graphics cards (GPUs) : Overclocking GPU... (Message 5370)

Sorry guys, dumb question..
Where you getting these numbers for ms/step? Wondering what my cards doing..Thanks!

Also, the overclocking..this is pretty much my thoughts.
number of shaders X core clock = amount of work done

So I always OC to highest stable core and the rest no matter really.
Does anyone know...My 260 won't OC. Is there a proggy besides the Nvidia stuffs? I tried Ntune and the new one but no have the perfomance tab on the 260 machine!?! It is an msi card btw.

My 9500 GT overclocks like a champ and is maybe the best rac/$ of my current setups. ..checking...Gpu-z gives it's current clocks at 700/570/1750 stock is 550/500/1375. It is made by EV3A. The 9800GTX runs 800/1115/1984.

Ditto :(
Took me awhile to sort this..not knowing
Please put it in the instructions for new users.

edit to add:
nope, using XP here

What exactly went on here?
wuid=33129

Is this normal? Previously I had only seen ~22 hour times. I got a bit worried when I saw it at a running time of 30 some odd hours. Let it complete. Nearly two days later, here is what we have.

Thanks!

Any progress on this front? Feel kinda nekkid without an AV. ;)
5) Message boards : Graphics cards (GPUs) : GPU grid??! Which GPU is supported? (Message 1242)
Posted 5755 days ago by Westsail and *Pyxey*
Thanks guys!
What I would like to know, is how CPU intensive is this? I am imagining the GPU is doing most the work. A core is tied up with it but not running 100% like we do with "traditional" projects.
So my conjecture/question is if the same RAC, with whatever card, can be achieved with a slightly slower (read cheaper) cpu?
I am very keen to see if it will be successful to run multiple tasks on multiple cards simultaneously.
If all my assumptions above are correct. Then rather than spend more to get a faster card, that ties up one of my good crunching cores.
Wouldn't it be cool to build a budget dedicated twin or even quad GPU cruncher?
I invision two of the $200 dollar cards. (although if one had the funds the GTX 280 is an amazing machine) A basic $50 atx board and a $50 processor, probably a 4200+. Using Stefan's numbers that would be like 8-10k RAC a day for the price of a PS3. Really exciting development you guys have here. I will do whatever I can to encourage this technology. And to think I thought the Cell BE was cool. ;)

So what do you guys think? It appears my older Nvidia cards don't support CUDA. :(
Looking for a card to put in my dedicated cruncher for this project.
I think I have settled on this:

ZOTAC ZT-98XES2P-FSP GeForce 9800 GTX

Please post your results here.
Be sure to give the make/model of your graphics card and any other pertinent or helpful info.

Peace!
Happy Crunching

I saw \"GPU Grid - PS3 Grid\" in BOINC project list.
I thought PS3 Grid is only crunching on PS3. Does it support GPU now??
If so, which GPU(s) are currently supported?

We will support NVIDIA GPUs, but we cannot say more now.

WOOT! Please keep us updated. Got a whole bunch of NVIDIA cards here just itching to crunch. :D

Thank you very much! Sorry to ask here as the problem was beyond just my PS3. When I started to look into this last night I had two different id\'s spread over several machines and several projects. A given machine would have one ID for one project and one for another. Some projects like Cosmology had half my hosts using one ID and half the other. This never posed a problem but I decided it would be cool to have one set of stats. Not too much to ask ehh?

Anyway I think I have it sorted now. Thanks to this forum. At the very least I can for the first time have a stats siggy with PS3 and Cos on the same graphic. Whoa what a concept LOL. BoincView still is split about 50/50 showing both ID\'s but I think in time they will now sort themselves out.

I got the original thread describing what you did as the only useful front page google return and thought that was cool. I think it was a reply there that suggested \"merging hosts\" as being the necessary action.

Until last night I always thought I did that and never had any old hosts hanging around the computers view page. Boy was I wrong. So a couple things. (First I digress, due to playing with differnt OS\'s and/or reinstalling etc I have hosts with upwards of half a dozen permutations over the years) So one thing is many projects have that neat \"Merge computers by name\" link well apparently it is not sufficent and leaves several machines (with different names duh) that can still be merged. So when I started going to each project and clicking the \"all computers\" link, man I about fell over. What a mess! So like a whole bunch of work later meticulously went through every project and merged everthing that would then deleted everything else left over that isn\'t active.

This seems to have been the ticket and now can follow the normal only needing one common project. *crosses fingers*

Anyway, Thanks, take care, keep on crunchin!

Cool thanks guys!

Was just using the same prefs as the rest of my machines. Never would have thought of setting to only use 1 cpu. Got it all tweaked per your suggestions now and reattached to yoyo. Got the resource shares set so it should only touch yoyo if PS3grid is down. We will see how it gets on then.

Now if I could only get everything to use only 1 CPID I would be all set. In desperation after reading a thread here about CPID I attached the PS3 to the rest of my projects then set them to no new work. At one time I had my main machine that way with ps3grid. Should I attach each one to this project too then set for no new work? Surely it would have to work properly then? How long should it take to consolidate? I currently have various machines and projects spread over two CPID\'s.

Sorry about that. Not to hijack this thread, just going slightly mad that I can\'t get all my stats in one place.

Thanks again guys. Here\'s hoping yoyo plays nice *crosses fingers*

One thing is for sure, do to getting the PS3, I have learned more about Linux and Boinc in the past 2 months then in the previous 5 years! *big smile*
