Fixed in current Versions of NVIDIA Forceware Drivers. No Extension or Adding (dummy) monitors needed.

What driver version?

I'm on the latest - 182.08. No desktop extension needed on xp x64.
2) Message boards : Graphics cards (GPUs) : 12k only for GTX 260 and GTX 280? (Message 7594)

-stil im aint able to understand how ppl with just a GTX260 can have 10k RAC then- :D

If your core 216 GTX260 is on and crunching 24/7 for 30 days it should come close to 10K, but may need a little overclock to get there.

The 285 should get there easily.

However, RAC is an average over 30 days. You need to have them on and crunching 24/7 for 30 days to get your RAC to climb that high. Total Credit is a better measure of how much work you are doing, as other posters have said.

Hmm btw, how does Overcloking affect with GPUGrid is it good or not good to overclock my card? cuz that might be the reason then cuz my gtx285 is overclocked... could this be ?

Overclocking is very good for performance, yes. If you are running windows, EVGA Precision makes OC'ing the GTX cards very easy. With a few clicks of the mouse you can go from 576MHz to 700MHz+ (one of my teammates had his at 740MHz if I remember correctly). It just takes some time to get things stable so the system and the work units don't crash.

For some they not only had to extend the desktop they had to add monitors to the outputs too ... (or dummy loads) ...

Might be fixed in the later Nvidia drivers. I didn't have to do this for my 295 on xp64.

It's been like that for a week or 2 for me as well.

Indeed, in multi-GPU mode it works only with 'half steam ahead'.

Thanks Dieter, unfortunate - I'd love to just run one task at a time much more quickly.

Been running mine today like that, and I think it's limited to 240 of 480 cores while on. The one task I'm running right now is 25% done after 2 hours wall clock time. Kinda sucks considering that every time I disable Multi GPU Mode, my machine freezes during reboot.. Guess I need to revert to 32bit XP where I last had Multi GPU off and problem free.. grr..

Has anyone tried leaving this setting "Enabled" for a few days to see if it will run the tasks twice as fast?

Having the same problem. GTX 260, 6.5.0 - when BOINC starts up:

2/8/2009 4:02:39 PM||No CUDA devices found

EDIT: Problem was RDP (Windows Remote Desktop) - switching to VNC fixed the problem. See my teammate Paul's thread here:

v6.62 is actually a bit faster here:

I think I'm finding the same thing. I don't see things slowing down. I compared several of my 6.62 "appx elapsed times" and see they dropped about 1500-2000 seconds.

Is the 295 comparable to a 260 in terms of noise or is it louder?
