I am trying to download tasks and the download is going about 1-3 KB/s. So I reset the project in the boinc manager, and the first couple file downloads were going about 100 KB/s but now the rest are at 1-3 KB/s again. Anything up with the server or just me?

I'm seeing ~280Kbps upload and a short-Long WU downloaded in a few seconds.

The problem likely exists with an Internet router somewhere between you and the GPUGrid servers or bandwidth capping. If it's the former there is two simple things to try form a command prompt,

    ipconfig -release
    ipconfig -flushdns
    ipconfig -renew

If that fails turn your router off for a few minutes and then on again, and if that fails do the same every few hours (just whenever you feel like it) in case your ISP is messing with their DNS servers.

I noticed slow downloads also, along with slow access to the GPUGRD.net web site. I wonder if the geographic location has something to do with it?

Everything else is normal.

Yep, I'm noticing slow GPUGrid downloads, as well as slow GPUGrid forum access. Just be patient, it'll clear. Resetting the project is very drastic. For issues like this, I usually wait it out about 3 days, before requiring action (either from the project, or from me trying to reset stuff locally).

TLDR; Be patient.

All my machines are also having download problems for GPUGrid. In fact downloads often stall for long periods. No other projects are affected. Website access is slow too. This has been going on for about a week and is getting worse and worse.

Edit, a typical example of the kind of thing I keep getting:

Like you said, even loading forum posts or forum reply pages... seem to get interrupted. Only have the page loads, then a stall for a couple seconds, then it finally loads. Almost like packets are being dropped.

Out of my 30 projects, I believe this is the only one having a problem. So there must be some sort of connectivity issue, near to GPUGrid.

Edit: Here is a tracert from me to you guys, and also a ping displaying high ping times and moderate packet loss.

Any ideas admins? Probably some router between here and Barcelona, eh?

Here is additional information... ping stats from some of the last hops in my trace route.

Basically, it appears that there is a communications issue between the following 2 hops:
CICA.XE1-0-2.uv.rt1.val.red.rediris.es [130.206.245.34]
anella-val2-router.red.rediris.es [130.206.211.74]
... right?

It's possible there are even additional communications problems in the hops that are even closer to GPUGrid, but for me, it seems the problems start between those 2 hops.

Ping statistics for 130.206.245.34:
Packets: Sent = 206, Received = 206, Lost = 0 (0% loss)

Ping statistics for 130.206.211.74:
Packets: Sent = 87, Received = 80, Lost = 7 (8% loss)

Ping statistics for 84.88.16.6:
Packets: Sent = 70, Received = 57, Lost = 13 (18% loss)

The very slow download problem seems to have been resolved in the last couple days, at least here. Whoever fixed it, a big thanks.

I think we were overloading the server with CPU WUs. Now that we relaxed it a bit it seems to run faster for all of us :)

Thanks for the replies. I was wondering about that because the slowdown coincided with the CPU WU rollout. Anyway at least here the download speeds have returned to normal.

I'm experiencing this in Hungary too.
The strange part is that the upload speed is ok.
EDIT: The download is usually gets "temporarily failed".

Slow download here, too, I have been downloading the same units for several hours. Upload is ok. If you need to shut the servers for a while, to fix this, then shut them down.

Me too, upload seems to be fine. Download is running at 8 KBps. Over 33 minutes to download a 16.86 MB file.

Download speeds are 2-14k and several times the download process stopped and needed to be manually reactivated. Video cards are starting to go hungry waiting for new tasks that take a very long time to download. Other BOINC projects are downloading their tasks at their normal and customary speeds.

VERY slow here. Slow to the point of BOINC backing off the downloads for a while, trying again for a couple minutes and getting maybe another 300kb, then backing off again. I've had to enable other projects just to keep my GPUs crunching.

Yup, slow here too... to the point of BOINC stalling GPUGrid downloads, and resorting to my backup projects (SETI/Einstein/SETIBETA/Albert) for work. (I have POEM and POEMTEST as non-0-resource share, but because they usually don't have work, it's my backup projects I'm getting work from currently).

I guess that's the penalty -- if I can't get the GPUGrid work, I can't do the GPUGrid work.

On the other hand, I'm very happy that my "backup projects" are keeping my GPUs busy, whilst hopefully someone sorts out this issue.

Regards,
Jacob

Transmit speeds, for me, have greatly improved. When I spot the problem next time, I will provide additional traceroute information. Sorry I did not think to do that, while the problem was happening.
