I'm considering buying one of the new GTX 750 cards when released next week. Seems like they will come in two memory sizes (1GB vs. 2GB). Just wondering if this project would be effectively using the added memory, or would I be better off saving any funds to purchase a second 1GB card.

Seems likely that other card releases have shown similar issues over the years. Still waiting to hear about price comparison (USD) between the 750 and 750TI.

Please check out skgivens' advice concerning those cards. At this time I would run one of those on a test basis and as a favor to NVIDIA if NVIDIA sent one to me free but I wouldn't risk buying one if my sole intent for it were to crunch GPUgrid tasks. IIUC, they're pretend Maxwells not the real thing.

Okay I will start the answering of the other question...I always go for the 2gb cards when I can as they give me the option to run multiple units on the same card at the same time. I tend to focus my crunching on one project at a time, so having 2 separate cards would just mean both are crunching for the same project anyway. Getting a single 2gb card now also means you have lots more options of still adding a 2nd gpu later on. Some projects can use every bit of memory a card has, DistRTgen for example, while others just use what they use.

if you wanna be "future proof" go for the 2GB version. Better have more GB than less

I wait until the "real" Maxwell comes out. I would buy only 780Ti's at the moment but they are out of stock in the Netherlands at the moment.

There are a couple of threads on the 780's having problems here, you might want to cruise thru them before you buy to see if anything applies to you.

Some suggest there is a GTX780Ti 'Black Edition' and a GTX790 due to be released...

The 780Ti is available for sale at Newegg now:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=780&N=-1&isNodeId=1

It has 2880 cuda cores as opposed to the NON Ti version which only has 2304 cuda cores.

Newegg does not have a listing for a 790 at the moment.

I want a second 780Ti to replace my two errorous 660's but not in stock in the Netherlands at the moment. But that 790 sound nice, has two processors. Will see when that one comes out here and what it will cost.
