This has happened a few times during testing, we get some work for a few days and then there is a pause, usually when they are analyzing what we did to make a change, as GDF states below. To me this is just normal project start up growing pains, so to speak. Just sit back and relax, and every thing will be running smoothly soon. I\'ve got a good supply of rum and ice, so no worries here.

Work for everyone now. As you say, I have been sending out a small batch with the new credits and new work to test. It is longer than the previous one (around 21 hours now), but as before you can safely restart and finish in several days (< 7days). We are still testing the shorter workunits. g

Gianni wrote: ...But, didn\'t you have a new wu already running? I can\'t answer that, but remember: #1 The host will retrieve more work to fill the queue before the current one finishes. #2 When finished the result may be uploaded, but then there can be a delay between the uplaod and the time the host reports it has uploaded, so it would still appear as work in progress by looking at a users account page. I sometimes show 3 on my system, 1 running, 1 waiting to run and 1 uploading or waiting to report.

Jim wrote: Thanks a lot! No problem. Jim wrote: And for this question, i put it because i don\'t know if i made an error and get this error message, or if the problem is not a problem. Thats good. Don\'t be afraid to ask any question. As you say it might be a problem and without asking, no one knows. And to quote some thing else you said Jim wrote: ...but i thought that more informations could be useful! Thats the purpose of my answers, I just try to give some useful information, not just for the person asking, but for all who might be reading and have the same question and maybe not know as much about BOINC. Jim wrote: Sorry for my bad english if i wrote some non-english sentence ;-) No need to appologize for that. I don\'t speak or read any other languages, beside english and computerish, so I give you a salute for making the effort. I also find, not refering to you specifically, that it is sometimes humorous how it is written, I like that. Usually the point is made and can be understood, the the most important. Jim wrote: And thanks for your work Krunchin-Keith again! Well thank you, I don\'t hear that a whole lot and its always nice to know I helped at least one person, that compliment makes it all worth the effort. :) Oops, I think I should get back to work now.

(On the server stats page the upload/download and scheduler server are listed as \'disabled\'. It always shows that, has done so ever since the beginning. PS3GRID is run on a shared server and the necessary component to show the correct status is not able to be installed or was not installed. --- There should be no reason to detach one and attach the other, then back. You could just \'suspend\' the one project and \'resume\' the other. I usually have no problems. I at one time set my resource share to the following, PS3GRID=4096, YOYO=1 and keep both active. Then normally PS3GRID is run and only will you get Yoyo when there is no work available from PS3GRID for any number of reasons. Just make the difference between the two very large.

I haven\'t had a WU to crunch in about a day. The server status page says there is work to send but I keep getting a \"no work\" message every time I try to get more. What\'s going on?
ID: 511 | Rating: 0 | rate: / Reply Quote
Thats hard to say without some log line examples.
ID: 514 | Rating: 0 | rate: / Reply Quote
Thats hard to say without some log line examples. I\'ve checked all of this. This is a server side problem. People are finishing WU but getting no new work. The number of WU available to send have increased over the past couple of days but the number of WU being crunched has decreased dramatically. One could infer that as they are being finished they are getting nothing in return, just as I am. I\'m not alone, there is another thread in this forum: No Work From Project? claiming the exact same thing as I am. Just disregard the (On the server stats page the upload/download and scheduler server are listed as \'disabled\'.\" portion as this is irrelevant. So when can I expect new work :\\

That\'s strange. Thanks to point it out. Wus were not sent out. I have now restarted the server and it seems to work.

That\'s strange. Thanks to point it out. Wus were not sent out. I have now restarted the server and it seems to work. It appears I now have a WU but I am not at home so I can\'t properly confirm this but all looks well. Thanks! Timothy

That\'s strange. Thanks to point it out. Wus were not sent out. I have now restarted the server and it seems to work. So I checked the WU, it appears to be moving along but BOINC records Zero percent done even though it has counted over 8 hours of crunch time. Does this seem normal? Actually, I rebooted and the WU has completely started over again. Zero percent complete, zero time elapsed. I\'m going to abort this WU and try another. Tim

Hi all, | |
ID: 520 | Rating: 0 | rate: / Reply Quote
Hi all, I\'m actually running at PS3GRID = 136.61 and Yoyo = 24 and SIMAP = 1. I need the 24 for my other computers, but on the PS3 this gave me about 6 tasks a week for PS3GRID (until they got a little longer) and then 19 hours a week for Yoyo. I have not had any problems in the past 2 or 3 weeks running this way. Generally it will run PS3GRID and Yoyo and only fall back to some SIMAP if there is not work available from the others. I will watch closely, but since my last restart I have 2 completed PS3GRID and the 3rd task running with a 4th ready to go, so it should only be a couple of more days before some yoyo has to run. I\'ve been running these several months in combination, without any problem. Do you have: Leave applications in memory while suspended? (suspended applications will consume swap space if \'yes\') set to NO if NO, this should remove the app from memory when switching occurs and that would have to release the SPE\'s. Several of the users had this problem until changing above setting, then it went away.

...On the server stats page the upload/download and scheduler server are listed as \'disabled\'. I\'m happy to report I found the answer to this and sent GDF the details which he was able to apply and get to tweek. Both the upload/download server and scheduler now show as green - running. This should solve some of the confusion. Thanks to GDF for fixing this for us. From now on if there is something wrong and someone can not get work, check the status page to see if the server shows other than not running. If it is running and the work ready to send is greater than 0 you should get work. However, remember that page is usually cached, and updated every 15 or so minutes, the time of last update is shown on the page, so it is possible if the work available number is low, like 1, someone else could have already got the work and it has not updated the cached page yet to show the actual number, like 0. This applies to all projects.

The server status says everything is running as normal but I am getting \"no new work\" messages. I can\'t even force a WU to download by updating, restarting or resetting BOINC. In other words, I\'ve done everything on my end to fix the problem.

I can´t really help with this one, but have you also tried to detach and re- attach to the project? ____________ pixelicious.at - my little photoblog

Since this project is \"Out of Order\" might I suggest that everyone have a second project for their PS3 crunching needs. AFAIK, the only other project besides PS3grid that utilizes the full potential of all the PS3\'s power is yoyo@home.

As most of you know, there was some kind of server error yesterday. Mostly forums or data driven pages were out of order. It has been fixed as all works fine now.

This morning i received this message in BOINC. Have you guys solved the PS3 firmware problem by making a new USB build image? That would be nice, as I have been on zero success since I began here. Sure, I could run the client from one of my HD installs, but that is not my goal. My goal is to get it up and running off my thumb drive USB stick. The new otheros.bld file, and a new kernel from Geoff at Sony incorporated into your \"pen drive\" zip file would be nice. Not complaining, just reminding you that it has been a while since this problem reared its ugly head. Doesn\'t look like the quoting thing on this board works right... I dunno.

I sent an email to GDF - hopefully he will have a look at it soon... We are testing new workunits, while the old ones are ending. There will be a large batch submission once they have been validated. Probably, tomorrow.

Now it\'s the second day my PS3s are running on idle because of \'no work from project\'. There are three rigs in the top twenty that suffer this fate. Is there anything I/we can do to get new WU\'s soon ?

there is a problem with the estimation time, so WUs do not get sent.
