I've just taken possession of a i7 Vista 64 notebook with a GTX540M. Over the past week I have let it run long tasks and they take about 50 hors, which is way poorer than my expectations, or the elapsed time I get on my desktop with a single GTX295.

I've set SWAN_SYNC = 0 and set Boinc to use at most 60% of processors.

I have Boinc 6.12.26 and I moved from NVIDIA driver 270,.61 to the beta 275.27 in an attempt to see if this would help.

I have now set up a location preference for this notebook so it does not accept long tasks, so hopefully I will be able to see how it performs with shorter tasks in a day or so.

After the first run completed I did reset the project. With no performance improvement.

NVIDIA card is set to Prefer Maximum Performance in the Power setting.

NVIDIA Performance monitor is reporting GPU FB usage 24%, GPU Usage 94%, GPU Processor Clock 1341MHz, GPU Memory Clock 896 MHz, GPU Graphics Clock 670 MHz.

Are there any other settings I should be using for this class card?

Thanks

Hi, The GTX540M only has 96 cores, is a very slow card for this project, can not finish any task within two days (maximum time to not send another team).

The configuration SWAN_SYNC = 0 sets the use of 100% of the CPU, ignores the general configuration, assuming you have set this environment variable as discussed in the FAQ. Greetings.

Thanks for that. I'll see how it goes on short jobs,if that is no good its off to SETI for the notebook :)
