Hello,
Am I optimized with the current info especially line 13 & 14:

(From Messages at startup)
1. Starting BOINC client version 6.10.58 for windows_x86_64
2. Config: report completed tasks immediately
3. Config: use all coprocessors
4. log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task
5. Libraries: libcurl/7.19.7 OpenSSL/0.9.8l zlib/1.2.3
6. Data directory: C:\ProgramData\BOINC
7. Processor: 8 AuthenticAMD AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 6128 [Family 16 Model 9 Stepping 1]
8. Processor: 512.00 KB cache
9. Processor features: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush mmx fxsr sse sse2 htt pni cx16 syscall nx lm svm sse4a osvw ibs skinit wdt page1gb rdtscp 3dnowext 3dnow
10. OS: Microsoft Windows 7: Home Premium x64 Edition, (06.01.7600.00)
11. Memory: 4.00 GB physical, 7.99 GB virtual
12. Disk: 37.17 GB total, 17.56 GB free
13. NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTX 285 (driver version 25856, CUDA version 3010, compute capability 1.3, 1006MB, 708 GFLOPS peak)
14. NVIDIA GPU 1: GeForce GTX 460 (driver version 25856, CUDA version 3010, compute capability 2.1, 994MB, 363 GFLOPS peak)

Line 2 & 3 from cc_config.xml [To get both GPU's to run]

<cc_config>
<options>
<use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus>
<report_results_immediately>1</report_results_immediately>
</options>
</cc_config>

Line 13- Gigabyte brand GPU
Line 14- Zotac brand GPU

Under Tasks: Running (0.1 Cpu & 1.0 Nvidia) For both Gpu's
Have already set Swan_Sync = 0
Should I declare in app_info.xml to reserve 1 core. Will this shorten run time?
363 GFOPS for gtx460?
OC by how much, shaders mostly?
Any flags to set in Nvidia control panel?
Trying to get max effort, any replies appreciated

Hi Kumba, Unfortunately your setup is erroneous. You have paired a GTX285 with a GTX460. The first card can run the Ver. 6.05 App and the second card can run the 6.11 app, but not vice versa. You cannot presently run both task types on the same system, which is why you are getting so many errors on from the GTX285. So you will have to remove one card.

You may be able to put the GTX285 and your GTS250 into the same system and put the GTX460 into your other system.

If you overclock, increase the fan speed. I would suggest no more than 10% to begin with. On a Fermi GPU and Shader speeds are linked in the ratio 1/2.
It is best to free up a CPU core for Fermi cards, but it is handier to do this from Boinc Manager (Advanced, Preferences, Processor Usage, On multiprocessor systems use at most 99% of the processor).
swan_sync is for Fermi cards, not needed for the other cards.
The report tasks immediately command is more important for lesser cards such as your GTS250. For a GTX460 it is usually not needed, but keep it just in case you run longer tasks now and again and miss credit deadlines.
You should note that Fermi’s perform less well on Win7 and Vista than on XP or Linux.

skgiven.

Currently running both gpus with 6.11 applications.
(Arte you saying, if gpugrid d/l a 6.05 it will crash. Any way to prevent 6.05 d/l)

Can't switch cards cause PSU does't have enough power.

Thanx for reply.

I'm saying most of the tasks that run on your GTX285 will fail.

Consider replacing your GTS250 with the GTX460, or sell on the GTS250 and get another GTX460 and run two GTX460's in the same system, if you can use the GTX285 in the other.

BTW Kumba, your GTX 285 should run MUCH faster than the GTX 460 in GPUGRID and you don't have to waste a CPU core to do it...

The last few posts are over a month old, things change. Now as you say you can have a GTX285 and a GTX460 in the one system and run the 6.13 app, as long as you use the correct drivers.
