Is anybody else having download problems? I've been trying to download this WU for almost 10 hours and keep getting messages like these:

My last result was returned around 9:00 UTC this morning and new ones downloaded 15 mins before so I don't appear to be having problems.

Thanks for the feedback...I must have a host problem of some kind. I rebooted from Ubuntu64 to WinVista32 and had no problem downloading a GPUGrid WU. It's strange, though, as download tests at the same website show virtually the same speed whether on Ubuntu or WinVista.

Probably caused by a temporary Internet issue. If you had aborted the transfer of the failed download, you would have recieved another task.

Your latest task status was In progress, rather than Error while downloading. So, did it actually start running on your Linux install?

Your latest task status was In progress, rather than Error while downloading. So, did it actually start running on your Linux install? That's correct. There were no download errors -- the files just downloaded extremely slowly. The smaller files would eventually finish downloading, but after many, many hours, of backoffs, "HTTP error" and "project servers may be temporarily down" messages, the larger files never completely finished. So, I just aborted the WU before it ever had a chance to run. This whole behavior is very strange and I've never seen it before on this host. I do, now, think I have a host specific issue of some kind that I don't understand, and not one related, specifically, to GPUGrid. I tested with other projects and got the same slow downloads. The other projects that are running on this host are doing okay, probably because the data files are small (and don't take long at even 1-2 Kbs). When it's working on Win32 (this host) I have no problems whatsoever downloading GPUGrid data (or that of any other project). When I perform browser-based download speed tests (e.g. speedtest.net), the results are the same under Ubuntu64 or Win23. It seems like there's only a speed issue working through the BOINC client/manager. I upgraded to 6.10.56 (same as Win32), but that didn't help. I even detached/re-attached to no avail. Unfortunately, I'm not savvy enough to know how to check my Linux install, network settings, etc., to see if it is, indeed, an OS problem. ____________

All I can suggest is the obvious; check your Boinc Mangers Networking settings, Advanced Preferences, Network Usage. Also try to turn off your router/modem (and switches) for a few minutes to allow it to reset at the exchange (dual booting can lead to strange network issues). If it is a NIC driver issue, try installing it again. I’m not sure how much time you want to spend troubleshooting it. Perhaps better to either stick to Windows or do a new Linux install. You could always try FatDog Linux

...check your Boinc Mangers Networking settings, Advanced Preferences, Network Usage. Never mind...Sometimes it takes someone else to point out the obvious: the maximum download rate was set to 1 KB/s. If it wasn't for my mischievous, invisible roommate playing tricks on me all the time, I'd guess that I must have inadvertently changed that when I meant to adjust the WU cache. You may now return to your regularly scheduled programming...<insert embarrassed smiley here> ____________

Does anyone have any idea why I have no GPUPRID tasks either running or ready to run?
