Just as the title says. Do not under any circumstances update your PS3 to the newest version. This will completely brick your USB Live Linux install.

I have not been able to boot into the Other OS since updating several hours ago. I have reformatted my USB drive, used the HP utility so my USB can be recognized, and even reinstalled the entire Live linux download.

The PS3 will not recognize the USB drive, there are no lights coming on on the drive, it is dead.

There goes my 3400 RAC, F&*K!

Maybe you´ll find some usefull information in this Forum thread -> http://www.ps3grid.net/PS3GRID/forum_thread.php?id=119

In this Thread GDF posted a Link to a new otheros.bld file. You can try to download it, put it on the USB pendrive in the PS3/otheros/ directory and then in the boot menu go to \"install other os\" and reinstall the new otheros.bld

For some people it worked, for some not... I can´t say if it works because I don´t use the PS3GRID Live Linux. I prefered to install YDL on my PS3s...

OK, I\'ve downloaded the otheros.bld file located here and the USB has booted. I of course lost the WU I was working on because I did not backup the BOINC Directory prior to the PS3 update (lesson learned) and I had to reattach to the project but at least it is crunching now. I\'ll watch it and update later if anything changes (especially crunching times, weird behavior etc.)

Just download the otheros.bld file into the corresponding file on the USB stick and write over the old one. *IMPORTANT* You must install other os upon restart of PS3 and set other os to start upon system restart just as before.
