Yes, you can dual boot on the PS3 gaming operating system or Linux. We suggest Yellow Dog Linux or Fedora core 5. Follow the instructions for installation in the main PS3GRID page.
However, remember that the Cell processor is not a normal processor. It will perform only on specially optimized code like the one developed by us.
In our case we achieve performances 20 times faster compared to an Opteron 2Ghz PC.
